The short version
- This site runs no analytics, no advertising, no social media pixels, no session recording, and no chat widgets.
- We collect personal information only when you send it to us: through the form on Talk to us about your claim, by email, or by phone.
- We use it to answer you and, if you hire us, to do the work.
- We do not sell it, rent it, or share it for anyone else's marketing.
- You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete what we have.
This policy covers oceansideappraisals.com, which is run by Ocean Side Appraisals, LLC ("Ocean Side", "we", "us"). If you hire us, the engagement agreement you sign will describe how we handle the documents and information that come with the appraisal itself.
What we collect
What you send us
The form asks for the state the property is in, the type of property, what happened and when, where the claim stands, what you and your insurance company disagree about, your insurance company and claim number, your name, email address, phone number, how you would like us to reach you, and the address of the damaged property. Some of these are optional, and the box for your own words is as long or as short as you like. If you email or call us, we have whatever you tell us there.
Please do not send Social Security numbers, bank details, or medical information. We do not need them to tell you whether appraisal fits your claim.
What is recorded along with a request
When you send the form, we also record the internet (IP) address it came from and the page that sent you to the form, if your browser reports it. We use these to spot spam and to learn which pages help people find us.
To save you a step, the form may suggest your state from the approximate location that the network delivering this site attaches to every connection. We do not send your address to any outside location service, and you can change the state before you go on.
What any website receives
Like nearly every website, the servers that host this one keep routine logs of requests: internet address, browser type, the page asked for, and the time. These are used for security and to fix problems, not to build a profile of you.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets two cookies, and both are needed for it to work:
- A session cookie, which lets the form remember your answers from one step to the next. The session record behind it holds your internet address and browser type, and it expires two hours after your last page view.
- A security token (XSRF-TOKEN), which protects the form from being submitted by another site pretending to be you. It also expires after two hours.
The home page also stores one value in your browser's local storage: the time you last watched its opening introduction, so it does not play again for thirty days. That value stays on your device and is never sent to us.
Our fonts and images are served from this site, not from font or image services, so loading a page does not tell any other company that you visited. We do not let other companies collect information about what you do on this site, or follow you from this site to others.
How we use it
- To read what you sent and reply by the method you chose.
- To review your policy and claim, tell you whether appraisal fits, and quote our fee.
- If you hire us, to carry out the appraisal and keep the records the work requires.
- To keep the site and the form safe from spam and abuse.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We contact you about the request you sent. We do not add you to a mailing list or send you promotional texts. If you asked us to text you and want us to stop, tell us and we will.
Who sees it
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share it only with:
- The companies that run our business systems for us: website hosting, email delivery, phone and text messaging, and the customer relationship software we use to keep track of requests. They may use it only to provide those services to us.
- The people involved in your appraisal, once you hire us and only as the appraisal needs: your insurance company and its appraiser, the umpire, and anyone you ask us to work with, such as your public adjuster or attorney.
- Courts and authorities, when a subpoena, court order, or law requires it, or when it is needed to protect someone's safety or our legal rights.
- A buyer or successor, if Ocean Side is ever sold or merged, who must keep treating it under this policy.
How long we keep it
We keep a request as long as we need it to respond. If you hire us, we keep your file for the length of the engagement and afterward for as long as tax, insurance, and legal record-keeping require. When we no longer need information, we delete it. If you ask us to delete yours sooner, we will, unless the law requires us to keep it.
Pages and the form are sent over an encrypted connection, and only the people who handle requests can see them. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care to protect what you send.
Seeing, correcting, deleting
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what personal information we have about you, to show you a copy, to correct it, or to delete it. Email info@oceansideappraisals.com or call (945) 248-2554. We will confirm the request comes from you by checking the contact details you gave us, and we will answer within 45 days. You can also have someone you authorize in writing ask for you. Asking will never change how we treat you.
California residents
California's Online Privacy Protection Act asks websites to explain how they answer "Do Not Track" requests. Because this site does not track you over time or across other websites, there is nothing for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to switch off; we treat either one as a request not to sell or share your information, which we never do. No other company is allowed to collect information about your activity on this site for tracking across websites.
We do not sell or share personal information, as the California Consumer Privacy Act defines those words, and we have not done so in the past twelve months. We do not disclose personal information to other companies for their own direct marketing, so there is nothing to report under California's "Shine the Light" law (Civil Code § 1798.83).
The ways to see, correct, or delete your information in the section above are open to Californians on the same terms, including through an authorized agent.
Children
This site is written for property owners and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we will say so at the top of this page, and we will not use information you have already sent us in a materially different way without asking you first.
Links on this site lead to other websites, such as FEMA and state insurance departments. Their own privacy policies apply there.
